Mt 12,46-50

Riječ Gospodnja

U ono vrijeme dok Isus govoraše mnoštvu, eto majke i braće njegove.

    • Jesam li svjesan kako i ja pripadam Isusovoj obitelji?

    • Zakej vidi Isusa i prepoznaje tko je on doista. Viđenje koje mu je promijenilo čitav život.
    • Dok čitamo ovu priču postoji niz stvari o kojima bismo mogli razmisliti. I mi želimo vidjeti Isusa. Tek tada uistinu možemo postati njegovi učenici. Možemo ga čuti kako govori: "Želim ostati danas u tvojoj kući." Otvori vrata i poželi mu dobrodošlicu.

    • Zacchaeus, who had originally just wanted to have an external glimpse of Jesus, has now come to see Jesus in a much deeper sense. A seeing that changed his whole life as it did that of the beggar in yesterday’s story.
    • Further, in answer to the accusation that he has entered the house of a sinner, Jesus says, “The Son of Man has come to search out and save what was lost.” Jesus is the Good Shepherd leaving the well-behaved 99 and going in search of the single one that has gone astray.
    • As we read this story, there are a number of things we could reflect on. We too want to see Jesus in the deepest possible sense. Only then can we truly become his disciples. We need to hear him saying to us, “I want to stay in your house today.” Let us open the door and welcome him in.

    • Jesus made Zacchaeus' day, and everybody else began to grumble.
    • What is going on here?
    • What does it say to me?
    • In my prayer, Lord, I am often like Zacchaeus, making huge efforts to catch a glimpse of you, only to find that you are waiting for me, calling me by name, inviting yourself into my heart. Once I am with you, I find happiness in putting things right, ordering my life, finding the springs of generosity and justice that have been stifled by old habits.
    • Jesus' hangers-on could be surprising. First a blind man of Jericho, now one of the richest and most hated men of the town is next; a man who has cheated many people, the cause of many a family's poverty. The home of the one most hated was the place Jesus chose to stay. The man most hated changed his ways and gave back what was wrongfully his. The gospel of Jesus - if we are sincere in our reading of it - will always challenge us to change or modify our ways.
